about Resin

What is resin and how does it affect my florals and artwork?

All resin is a type of plastic. We use epoxy resin, which cures to a hard, shiny finish, making it durable and beautiful to set out on display. It is important to note that the type of resin we use remains in a liquid state for several hours before the curing process begins. It’s also worth noting that florals go through a whole other life before they reach our studio and resin can bring out the wear that was otherwise invisible, such as bruising, which shows up as translucent spots in the final artwork. Some florals will change color once they make contact with resin. Additionally, our resin is poured in layers and the side of your artwork will indicate the layer lines.

WHAT IS THE pROCESS?

Call to reserve your Preservation Date. There is a non-refundable deposit taken (cost dependent on design). An invoice will be created and sent to you after the initial deposit if the date is available.

Schedule a drop off date within 24-48 hours of your wedding, no later than 3 days after if possible. Bring any extra flower bouquet, if possible, like an extra centerpiece or bridesmaids’ bouquet. We all know the Bridal Bouquet has some serious Wedding Day action and may need some back up.

Once the bouquet is received it is photographed to document the design/style. Then it is deconstructed and placed into a preserving gel to dry. Once complete we will text you a layout of the design on top of the resin mold for approval. Then upon approval the final process of preserving the bouquet begins. Once your keepsakes are complete you may pick them up or it can be shipped directly to you with the shipping costs covered by you.

Do I have any imput?

Absolutely! We’ll be in touch every step of the way! I text pictures of the progress from deconstructing, drying and the revealing.

How long will my artwork last?

Forever! However, all epoxy resins will yellow over time. This is natural, and we use UV protection in our process to prolong it from occurring.

How do I care for my custom artwork?

We recommend displaying your artwork away from heat, windows and direct sunlight to avoid UV exposure and protect it for the long term. As needed, wipe with a water-dampened microfiber or lens cleaning cloth. Please do not se anything on your artwork, as scratches may result.

* Avoid heat & direct sunlight •Store in a cool, dry area • Clean with a soft cloth & mild soap • Handle with care • Do not soak or scrub • Avoid sharp or abrasive objects.

how long will it take to receive my ARTWORK? *

The whole process, from bouquet arrival to artwork completion, can take approximately 4-6 months, depending on the types of florals and your approval of the artwork design. Each flower dries at a different rate, and we have to ensure they are completely dry before moving forward to the encapsulation process. *Winter Orders may not be completed by Spring due to resin needing to be 70 degrees or higher to completely cure.

Will my flowers look the same as they did on my wedding day?

In most cases, no. While we take careful steps to maintain the color and form of your flowers, natural changes occur as they dry and should be expected in the final artwork. For example, some florals darken, and some lose their color. Some florals don’t stay intact, so we have to remove the petals for use in the artwork, rather than the whole flower. Some florals will change color once they make contact with resin. Rest assured, we do our best to maintain your bouquet’s integrity and beauty.
